Ofcom fines JML Media for breaking licensing rules

Ofcom has imposed a £7,500 fine on JML Media Limited for breaching licensing rules.
We found that JML Media Limited failed to disclose to Ofcom the political associations of one of its directors and major shareholders. This meant that the Licensee rendered itself disqualified from holding its broadcasting licence, under restrictions in the Broadcasting Act.
Following Ofcom’s investigation, the individual has resigned from all associated political organisations. Although this means the licensee has returned to compliance, Ofcom has imposed a fine to reflect the company’s failure to disclose the relevant information.
The fine, which takes into account the action taken by JML to rectify its breach and its full cooperation with our investigation, will be paid to HM Paymaster General.
