Sewing Quarter lives on...

The remnants of Sewing Quarter are being salvaged to create a new service. It follows a number of behind the scenes changes following previous owner Immediate Media's decision to exit the teleshopping business. That decision resulted in Sewing Quarter ending its daily live broadcasts on 30th December 2019. But now, a newly formed limited company has taken over the Freeview broadcasting licence of Sewing Quarter and sister channel Jewellery Maker. It had been previously confirmed in early December that Jewellery Maker had been sold to teleshoppong business Gemporia, but not Sewing Quarter which got shut down. However, by the end of January it was confirmed that some of Sewing Quarter's broadcasting assets had been transferred. "Jewellerymaker Ltd", formed in October under the name "Gemporia Newco", a subsidiary of Gemporia, is now officially running both channels from its Worcestershire base. Under new ownership, a new service called "Sewing Street" is being prepared for launch on Freeview and is inviting interested viewers to sign up for email updates via its website sewingstreet.com. However, the deal did not include the Sewing Quarter website, which has now closed. Meanwhile, Sewing Quarter's Sky channel slot was given up in mid-January. A formal confirmation of Sewing Street's  launch date is still pending.
